Although I have plenty of friends with little kids, I have never felt the urge to visit them straight out of hospital. This may be a guy thing or I just don’t think much of other people’s newborns.
We’ve been home with our new baby for almost 3 weeks. Although this may sound like a vacation to non-parents, believe me when I say it hasn’t been one. We’re tired, so tired, we’re also happy, overwhelmed, fascinated, sleep-deprived, scared and proud, but mostly tired.
Warning: some new parents can be (over)protective (I know I was) and some of the following ideas are so commonsensical that it hurts. It’s best to ask from them what to expect. With that being said, here’s my experience.
I don’t know why, but I’ve always wanted to have kids. May-be it’s the way I was brought up or may-be wanting an offspring is hardwired genetically or it’s just what society sees as a norm. Who knows, I’ve never really thought about it until recently.
Don’t get me wrong our baby is very much expected and her arrival celebrated once she’s here. However I wanted to get this off my chest before I become a parent and therefore a little biased. [Read more…]
